Please post a comment to let us know you visited. In the future fitMS members will use this blog to communicate with each other.
Watch for our member based portion of the fitMS web site...coming soon. Members will have access to an in depth exercise of the month video, as well as articles on nutrition and fitness. There will be a place to post fitness and nursing questions for Joy and hopefully for doctors, nutritionists, and other experts we recruit for our expert panels.
You have a blog!!! This is great!!!....What's a blog exactly???
I was given Joy's DVD on
BalanceProgram 1 by my
Physical therapist, Lana.
I hope I,too can improve
my physical stamina,balance
and general well-being. I
viewed the DVD and was
amazed at what Joy can do!
I am recently separated
and on my own again. I am
scared and anxious to stand
on my own again. Has anyone
ever been in my situation
and have any words of
advice? Previously, before
MS, I was working, in love
and very active. Just trying to find my way.
Hi susan,
I've been there for the last 14 years! and remember that DVD was filmed over about 8 hours with breaks and at about 4 pm I sat down mid filming and had an unplanned 15 minute rest, snack, cold water. The heat of the lights in the studio got to me. Over the years I have learned to ask for and accept help when I need it. I have days where the program on the DVD is easy and times when it's not as does every class member in my live class. You may find some of the advice to help you find your way on the new fitmsonline member blog. It's a member based periodical with monthly exercise videos, articles by a nutritionist, who has MS, and a chiropractor/acupuncturist and a nurses page. we post news articles and have a resource page with web sites and recommended reading. places for you to post comments, questions and suggestions for future topics. email me directly anytime or go to www.fitMSonline.org and click on the free preview. Where do you live and how did Lana hear about fitMS?
Our online periodical is up and running...but I can't seem to get members to post comments and questions. I'll notify all about this blog today and ask people to use this as a place to share information and questions with anyone who visits the blog on topics such as medications, treatments, healthcare professionals that have made a difference in your life.
We share this kind of information in our live class and I'm hoping to widen our information base so we can all benefit from from other members' experiences!!
OK...I've been living with MS for 9 years. I've tried every treatment and medication available for bladder problems...except botox injections!
In my case, biofeedback, electrical stim, going to the bathroom on a schedule have not given me any noticeable improvement in the urgency, frequency and pain symptoms.
I have had varying degrees of help with the various oral medications available including Detrol, Ditropan and Vesicare.
The patch version of these meds seemed to work as well but was a pain in many ways.
I struggle with several of the side effects including headache, dry mouth and constipation and mild residual retention which force me to remain on a low dosage.
Today I will change to a gel version of the typical ingredient in many oral drugs...hoping for at least equal improvement in bladder symptoms. I decided to try the gel because it may decrease some of the side effects by bypassing the digestive track.
I will post my experience and conclusions after about 2 weeks.
I would love to hear from those who have tried the botox treatment for the bladder so I can decide whether I'd like to try it. I'm interested in knowing the cost, whether you insurance covered, how painful it was and of course, how well and how long the effects lasted???

Hi Joy,
Of all the medications I have been on, the one that has the most impact on me was 4-AP. Not only has it made walking esier, It has also made meny of my sytoms easier to deal with. The biggest being my heat intolerance seems to have gone away.

Love Love Love the blog! FYI for all of us on Avonex. To ward off side effects I use Aleve before I take my injection. It works so much better than anything else I have tried. I take 2. So happy to see a fitMS blog! Thanks for all the info! It's priceless!
posting this comment for member LisaAnn...
Tried Vesicare in January. Week one, no results, week two, day 10, no pee. 10 hours into waiting, decide this was bad. Drank a quart cranberry juice and tea between glasses of juice. At 16 hours, I peed.
Internist said 10 hours was too long, and I should have gone to the hospital at that point for a cath. No more Vesicare.
It seemed to "shock" it though, because I am back to three hour intentional waits, using the Endoflex on my ankles. Unfortunately, it is still "spastic" sometimes.
still getting the hang of this 'blog' format!!!!!
heading for the apple store tomorrow for some insight!
For now... click on the link at the bottom of the list of comments that shows the number of comments to leave a comment of your own or comment on another comment.

ok...it might be a good idea to break comments up by topic...I'm going to create a new post to use when you are looking for or posting medication info...then I will post my update on that page!
